Plum Builders, Inc claims ownership of the trademark “The Modern Barn” but they are using their trademark registration against the press and threatening lawsuits for any article that describes a home as using the words modern and barn. Their lawyer sent a barrage of threatening emails and drafted a complaint in an attempt to use the threat of litigation costs to stifle the press’s first amendment rights.
