I have been a customer of Mickeysplace.com for a number of years. This year, they added authorize.net as an intermediary for credit and debit card verification. A week ago, I placed an order on Mickey’s Place, and saw authorize.net now being used by them. I entered my credit card info and billing address..
The transaction was declined – to an AVS mismatch. I retried 3 more times. Still no luck. My order still appeared in the Mickey’s Place shopping cart. I gave up for the night.
The next morning, I got a text from my credit card, saying the transaction was approved. Curious, I looked up my recent transactions on my credit card’s website, and I see 4 pending transactions for Mickey’s Place.
Calling Mickey’s Place, they confirmed that the 4 transactions were declined.
Calling my credit card, they would not remove the transactions because of the pending status. So now, I had the amount of the 4 transactions deducted from my available credit.
Calling authorize.net – they said that maybe my billing address was not entered right ! They made no effort to look into my transactions.
6 days went by, My credit card still showed the transactions pending. I called them again, and after much persuasion, they removed the pending charges. I had my card verify the correct billing and mailing addresses. I wrote them down.
Last night, I tried again placing the order, making positively sure I entered the correct information, and using the same credit card. The AVS mismatch message happened again, and that charge for that order at Mickey’s Place is pending. Deja-vu !
That’s where we stand, right now. I am not blaming Mickey’s Place – I suggest avoiding authorize.net . If they decline the charge, it should not go to my credit card as pending, leaving available credit in limbo. If there is a ” mismatch” what, exactly is mismatching ? If I don’t find out, how can it be corrected ? I let Mickey’s Place know that I will place the order by phone, once the funds for last night’s transaction get back on my card.
Authorize.net should change their name to Unauthorize.net.
